About Great Pyrenees Dogs | Back to Dogs Main Page

Great Pyrenees make great family, livestock and personal guardians. We watch personalities and determine if pups prefer livestock, do well with both, or prefer people. We place them in homes where they will enjoy their jobs and succeed to their best abilities.

November 19, 2006 We have puppies and one adult female available:

Litter Born May 1, 2006

Male - Ringtale $350 livestock or family guardian

Male - Bear $350 livestock or family guardian

Male - Grizzly $350 livestock or family guardian

Male - Kodiac $350 livestock or family guardian **SOLD**

Female - Sasquatch $450 livestock or family guardian

Female - Yeti $450 farm or family guardian **SOLD**

Adult Female - Zorra 2 1/2 years of age. Intact: $1800 Spayed: $1400
She is a great livestock guardian, but would also do well on a family farm.

You may fill out a DEPOSIT form to hold a pup. We are looking for owners who are willing to work with their new pup/dog to help it become an excellent livestock or family guardian. If you expect to take a pup and throw it in the back yard or pasture, with no effort on your part, then please look elsewhere.

A good guardian, whether for livestock, or for your family takes WORK:

  • Work on the part of the producer/breeder, to make sure excellent nutrition and health is assured for the parents as well as the pups.

And Work on the Part of the New Owner to:

  • continue to provide excellent nutrition
  • to socialize the pup for whatever the goal is (a livestock guardian and a pet or ranch dog will not all be socialized in the same way)
  • train the pup, with love and kindness, as to what is expected of it
  • correct the pup lovingly when it acts out of immaturity.

With a Great Pyrenees this training can last as little as 10 months. But often it will take between 2-3 years for the pup to fully mature. In 6-10 months they will be capable of guarding, but they may have an ‘immature’ attitude that will at times need correcting.

We are always available to give advice and support. But You, will need to apply the advice we give.
